In 2001, we provided process improvement and profit enhancement services for GreenLeaf Auto Recyclers, LLC, which at that time was a division of Ford Motor Company (see the "What Clients Say" page of our website).
GreenLeaf was formed as part of Ford's foray into automotive-related services. When Ford's CEO (Jacques Nassar) resigned in 2003, Ford decided to divest GreenLeaf. Since my partners and I had an intimate knowledge of GreenLeaf, its personnel and the automobile parts recycling industry, we agreed to purchase it from Ford.
Over the next two years we made significant changes to GreenLeaf's business model. We attracted new leadership to key sites and trained existing leaders to pull the right levers of profit, resulting in significant improvement to operational efficiencies and profitability. We introduced new products, marketed our services to new customer channels, installed a site-specific profit sharing plan, and aggressively managed the business back to profitability. GreenLeaf's current President and Chief Operating Officer both worked under our supervision and are now leading GreenLeaf to new growth.
In 2005, we sold GreenLeaf at a significant profit to the Pick N Pull division of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc., which has related businesses in automotive parts recycling and the recycling of ferrous metals. We take pride in our contribution to GreenLeaf's continued growth and prosperity.
